Courses We Offer

Cultural Context for Academic Success

BE’s cultural context course has been designed to increase students’ cultural understanding and awareness. The aim is to provide a background to their studies so that they can better understand the subjects they are learning within a wider framework. Having this background allows our students to approach their subjects more like students in the UK and access the highest marks in exams. The course is suitable for students from 11-16 years old and covers history, religion, politics and current affairs.

Candidate Building

BE’s candidate building classes are designed to give students in local schools exposure to a western academic classroom setting. These small group classes run fortnightly with an overarching theme explored over eight weeks through a variety of different classroom activities. These include debate, creative teamwork, persuasive speaking, critical thinking and problem-solving tasks.

Early Modern English

BE’s early modern English classes are designed to introduce students to the grammar and context of early modern English, alongside some of the most important literature from the period. Students following an international curriculum will study one or more examples of early modern English at secondary school and this course helps them to approach their studies with confidence.

British English

BE’s British English course is designed to familiarise students either going to or interested in the UK with every-day aspects of British English. The lessons explore topics such as common idioms, colloquialisms and dialects through a variety of media. Students gain a broader understanding and appreciation of British English and how it is used in different places and contexts. Studying dialects and colloquialisms will increase students’ understanding of films, texts or even people they meet while studying in the U.K.

General English Improvement

Based on the Cambridge English Assessment, BE’s EAL course offer students a structured way to improve their foundational English in line with both exam preparation and real life. BE’s team of native English-speaking tutors are well-equipped in both experience and resources to provide students with personalised one-to-one tuition in reading, writing, speaking and listening. The skills learnt provide students with the confidence to tackle a variety of comprehension, vocabulary and grammar exercises, and to thrive in an English-speaking environment.
